Monteverdi composed his late masterpiece with church performance in mind. Reflecting that approach, our production took place in St Margaret’s Church, Cley-Next-the-Sea, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 12, 13, 14 May at 7 pm. Its theme is the triumph of Love over Virtue, but in its wake lies banishment and suicide.
This production was the first time this opera has been presented in Norfolk since the Sadler’s Wells Tour of 1974.
