Following our enormously successful production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in April, we now welcome our new artistic team to the company, Music Director, Mark Jones and Stage Director Paul Hands.
Mark trained at the Royal College of Music and was twice winner of the Adrian Boult conducting scholarship. He spent 21 years as Music Director of Gresham’s School and is currently Music Director of Fakenham Choral Society.
Paul was Director of Drama at Gresham’s School for many years, where he worked in conjunction with Mark before retiring. He now directs on a freelance basis and is also director of Litcham Entertainment Group.
Our Next Production
Our first production under their leadership will be Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, one of the lightest and brightest pieces in the operetta repertoire and which of course contains the famous Gallop Infernal , otherwise known as the Can-Can.
This will take place at the Auden Theatre, Holt, on Thursday, Friday & Saturday 16/17/18th April, 2020.
Tickets can be booked online at https://audentheatre.co.uk/how-to-book/ or by telephoning the box office, 01263 713444.
Come and Join Us
We actively welcome those who would like to perform with us, either as a principal singer or as a member of our chorus. Auditions are not required to sing in the chorus.
Auditions for principal roles in Orpheus will be held at on Monday 16th September at The Holt Community Hub, Charles Road, Holt, NR25 6DA at 7.30pm, and on Monday 23rd September at The Holt Youth Project, Old Station Way, Holt, NR25 6DH, also at 7.30pm. If you would like to audition, please Email our Chairman, Des Holmes at email@example.com to be kept advised of the edition of the score we’ll be using, how to obtain it, and what the audition pieces are.
We had a most enjoyable sing-through of the whole piece on Monday, 9th September with Mark, which was both useful and enjoyable. Also Paul gave us his ideas in respect of the production itself, and it sounds as if it will be great fun; everyone present was most enthusiastic and there was some lively discussions over coffee at the break. We will still welcome anyone who wishes to audition on 16th & 23rd September and if you haven’t got the audition pieces yet, do get in touch with Des Holmes. See you at the auditions!
Rehearsals take place at the Holt Youth Project, on Monday evenings from 7.30pm.
We also welcome those who may not wish to perform but would like to be involved with the company in any other capacity.
